Note 8 Overheating

re:

I'm experiencing similar issues with my Note 8. Phone gets extremely hot and this is after my local Samsung Service Centre has replaced motherboard and battery. Right now, with the phone basically sitting idle, temperature is 39.8 centigrade which is well above the 27 degrees mentioned by BADhominid. When actually in use, the phone gets noticeably hotter. I only just installed the Ampere app so I will post an update once I have a better picture of the temperature.

re:

Using a new device since the morning and thus far, the temperature oscillates between 25 and 35 degrees centigrade depending on usage.

Why even sell a VR set that only works on Samsung phones if it does not even work on simple use cases such as using it with mobile data.

VR is hot [no pun intended] these days. Nobody wants to miss a marketing opportunity. And let's face it, VR is really still beta for all manufacturers at the moment.

General comment:
When we're measuring our devices against others in these forums we must consider that each user has their device configured in their own unique way. So we can't be surprised or jump to conclusions when some devices run hot while others don't, or some have "lag" or poor battery performance while others don't.

If a device is factory fresh and you think it's not running as designed then take it back to the manufacturer. Full stop.

Add some screenshots and numbers to include when asking for support. They should have better diagnostics available, but helps shows what you are seeing.

Splurge on a current generation wireless charging pad, one that specifically supports Note 8. It'll have better smarts.

Add a $100 wifi Access Point to give better coverage.

Are you using GSam Pro to monitor battery and charger? Anything over 40°C would have me concerned. Protect your ~$950+ investment.

I see the same problem. My phone gets heated up very heavily when I turn ON LTE or during wired fast charging.
I feel scared it my blast. I do not use any cover or screen protector. Phone is in Performance optimized mode.

Any help with this?
