Note 8 text contact muted

[Android Central Question]

Good evening, ladies and gents. I have samsung note 8 and for some reason, a mute symbol now appears over the time of the last text I received from a certain contact.

I haven't blocked this contact and in it's settings, both the ringtone and the message tone are the default, however, since it showed up (naturally) I don't receive any sort of notification when it sends me a text message.

Can anyone help

open the message conversation, tap the menu (hamburger stack) in the upper right corner, then look at the bottom of the menu window, on the lower left is the notification symbol. if it has a line through it, notifications are off for the message string. if that's the case tap it to turn them back on.

Thanks mhunter6378 this has been killing me I somehow accidentally muted my wife and she was getting madder and madder thinking I did it on purpose.
