Note 8 won't sync to car USB

For some reason, my Note 8 won't play audio over USB in my 2010 Ford Escape. Has anyone else come across this problem or know of a fix? I never had this problem with my iPhone 7 in the three months I've owned the vehicle.

I have the exact same problem with my 2015 ford fiesta. I don't know what to do.

Android doesn't work over USB. use bluetooth or aux.
