Note 9 animations dropped frames when closing certain apps

I have noticed a problem on my Note 9 that was not present on my Note 8 . To this day the animations on my Note 8 are fluid(never changed them). On my Note 9 when closing certain apps(Gallery does it almost every time) I can notice that it is dropping frames. The speed at which the app closes is the same, but the dropped frames are pretty noticeable.

That being said I have went into developer options and turned the animations off which fixed my problem being they are not being shown. Opening and closing of apps are instantaneous now. Who needs animations anyways?

Anyone else notice dropped frames in animations?

check if any software update is there...I heard note 9 already got it's 1st update

Just checked again, have had no updates.

So far I am liking the animations being off, except the animator duration had to be left at 0.5 or the recents screen would weird out.

I'm having similar problems. As the other user above mentioned, I can get opening and closing of the Gallery to drop frames every time. The messages app and a host of others.

Like you, I thought maybe I just needed a fresh reset. So tried that today. Didn't help. Even kept the device super clean and didn't immediately sign into my Samsung account. Didn't matter, it's still doing it. And I cannot stand it. I used an S9 for months and never noticed what I'm seeing with this Note 9. I'm very attempted to return for that reason alone.

If anyone else finds a fix, please do follow up. I've tried everything.

Yeah (sigh:-\) this is nothing new. I have had Samsung Galaxy phones since the Galaxy S3. And all of them (at least for me) have been laggy in that area of transition from Home Screen to App Draw. In addition, sometimes it laggy with transition from Bixby (swipe left to right) to Home Screen as well. Some of the reviews out there said it was smooth on the Note 9 this time around. But, I would have to disagree. Samsung does not care, they simply can't fix it or it's on the extreme low priority It's annoying and it's a darn shame.

Yes I see them as well.

Activate developer options and change animations to 0.5

That does nothing beyond simply speeding up the frame drops. And I'm not trying to use developer option "solutions" for a $1k phone anyway.

Noticed that in the demo too, Note 9 wasn't really fluid or fast despite it had the basic bloatware.

Samsung Achilles heel will never be fixed

Never experienced it on the note 8.
I hope to be home in 4 hrs and sitting down to unbox my Note 9 that's been sitting there for 3 days.

So for kicks, downloaded the Rootless Pixel Launcher...and frame rate drops are gone. I'm sure Nova or otherwise would work too.

It's Samsungs ****ty launcher. I remember this being an issue with the S8 if I remember right. Eventually Samsung issued an update that corrected it. Def didn't have the issue on S9 though.

Yep, I've owned Nova for years now. Just installed it and the dropped frame issue is gone. Guess I will be using Nova for a while

Nova is one of the first apps I install on a new phone.
I don't understand the "closing" of the apps. Where is everyone seeing this? Just wondering. I don't have a Note9 yet to test it.

You're in an app, then hit the home key and an animation is triggered of the home screen coming back up. That's what we're talking about.

Well, it anyone is interested, Flossy Carter talks about this in his "Note9 Real Review".

Personally I'm not seeing this but I respect that we all see things differently.

i.e Just because I don't see it I understand that it's something that's there for others.

One guy on YouTube calls it jank.

Guys suddenly my animations have become perfect...no issue...I did uninstall few apps....now no shuttering when opening folders or switching between home screen and app drawer...
