Note 9 Full backup... Help needed

Hi, i broke the screen of my note 9 (my negligence). Its going in for repairs under insurance. I would like to do a full backup as when i restore it, i want atleast all the apps to be installed. I know google used to do it with Google backup, not sure about Samsung. How do I back that up? Apps data/login is not needed, but all apps should be installed on restore. Help appreciated.

Google should restore that when you login into your account during setup. As a secondary measure I'd also recommend using the Samsung Cloud account one as well. You enabled it under settings - cloud and accounts.

It's called Smart Switch, and it works phone to phone. No computer needed. Should be pre-installed into Note 9. However, if you need to find it, I believe it's in Samsung's Galaxy Apps, not Google's Play Store.

Correct. And you do also have the option of using it with a computer, whichever is more convenient.

No. The Samsung Switch app.
Select the SD card icon (upper right) to start the process.

For apps, I would use Smart Switch - it's a lot faster and if you save it to SD Card, it's pretty effortless. It'll also tell you which apps cannot be backed up and the reasons too. One thing to note though - it didn't pick up on one app that I had to redownload myself. It was one of those "apps" that was an unlocker for another app, and it did not have an icon - so I wonder if that had anything to do with it.

Smart Switch has the iron to back up more than just apps.

The only things I found that it not back up was the unlocker app that did not have an icon that I mentioned above, and also 2 folders that were created by apps to store documents. So, if you have documents that are in folders that were created by an app, you should probably back those folders up manually. The backup will backup things in your Download, DCIM, Pictures folder.. but for example, I have an app called TinyScanner Pro, and it scans docs and saves them to PDFs in a folder called "MyTinyScan" and "MyTinyScan_PDF". SmartSwitch did NOT back up those folders.

But that being said, it did a pretty good job with everything else.
