Note 9 Issues

Hi,

I bought an open box Note 9 N960U1 from eBay, and I had it less than 2 weeks.

The past couple of days, I find that some parts of the screen, particularly to upper half, is not quite responsive to my touch when I try to push an icon.

I try to pressure push it, and nothing will happen. Unless I keep pushing the same spot, eventually the phone will think I'm multi-tapping the screen.

My phone is a Snapdragon and updated with the latest OS and patch.

Is this a common issue, or is my phone defective?

Hi ,no this is not common.
Do you have a glass screen protector on?

I did the hard reboot, but the battery shows nothing out of the ordinary. This all started, the play store not finishing downloads and the battery drain in the last two days. There must have been a system update or security update that's causing this since there are so many others across Google, not just here, who are reporting this problem.

I ended up biting the bullet and did a factory reset last night. Took me awhile to get things back to where i had them but it seems to have worked. The lag is gone, the google play issues are gone, and the battery drain/slow charging issue is gone. Phone is back to it's former speedy self!

Awesome

Oddly enough, after 2 hard resets, I found a thread at XDA where people reported perfect results after disabling their Google account on the phone. So, after the 2 hard reset with the same problems today, I tried disabling the account and voila! Everything is back to normal. I have no idea why it's interfering and no one posting the results knows either, but it works so I'm not going to complain...

So keeping your Google account disabled works ? Or you disabled and then log back in.

I just left it disabled. I haven't had any trouble with it at all and I really don't use the google account. I mean, I use Chrome and Gmail, Messages and the Play store obviously, but they're all working fine so I'm not sure why I need the Google account in the first place. If I run into trouble, I'll let you know, but at this point no, it's disabled and that's that.

Need Google account for back up, to go into play store for app updates, go into Gmail ect..
But if works for you great.

Apparently, one doesn't need it for those since I'm using them, updating things and having no problems. And Google is still disabled. I've been in Drive, Play store (which is showing all updates as they come through) Gmail is working seamlessly...I'm now trying to figure out why one even needs the Google account. Doesn't seem to be something one would have to have. And I use Drive for backup as well as GCloud for a secondary and both are working in that respect as well.

I removed my Google account on my note 9 , can't go into play store or Google drive so if it works for you that's great .

Sorry, but like I said, I disabled it. I didn't remove it. Still showing disabled, but everything's working.
