I have the note 9, and every review I've read as mentioned stereo speakers. However mine seems to only have one speaker on the bottom and I can't find another speaker anywhere. Does anyone know where this second speaker is or is this an urban legend?
The stereo speakers will work regardless if that setting is enabled. I never had it turned on on my Note 9 and I've had it almost two weeks now and the stereo speakers have worked since day one.Make sure Dolby Atmos is turned on, there's a quick toggle for it in your notification area. This enables the dual speakers.
It must be in landscape mode.

Well, if that is the case then the dual speakers suck. The phone sounds like a single firing speaker without Dolby Atmos turned on.

Maybe an issue with yours. Mine sounds amazing for a phone.Well, if that is the case then the dual speakers suck. The phone sounds like a single firing speaker without Dolby Atmos turned on.
If you put the phone next to your ear, you should be able to locate the speakers pretty easily (unless they're not working).I have the note 9, and every review I've read as mentioned stereo speakers. No it doesn't, they work in portrait too.
