I got my unlocked Note 20 Ultra yesterday from Samsung. I have been trying to figure out how to transfer everything over from the Note 9 since getting it. I looked at videos all last night and tonight but I get conflicting info. Can anyone help me with these questions:

1. Will my current Verizon sim card work in the Note 20?
2. If it does ,Should I put the simcard in the the Note 20 before I use Smartswitch or after? Some on Goggle say before, some say after. Looked at Youtube vids and they only discuss using Smartswitch

3. Will Verizon make me change cellphone plans or will everything remain the same?

Any help on any of this would be greatly appreciated. I am so anxious to start using the phone. Thanks in advance.

Hi, I like to leave my sim card in but you can without, use smart switch between phones or Smart switch on PC which I prefer . And yes the existing sim will work and your plan shouldn't change . If your sim really old like 7 years then get a new one .

Thanks Mustang. I'm not clear though. Are you saying you like to leave your sim card in your old phone before you start the data transfer or in the new phone? or does it even make a difference. I don't want anything overwritten on the sim card. Hate to be slow about this but please explain.

No problem, I like to leave the sim in the new phone because everything I backed up is associated with that number , does it make a difference I don't think so and nothing be overwritten on sim card .

If you want 5G, then you will probably need a new SIM. That's what my provider, Bell Mobility, just told me.

I moved my SIM over first, so that I could put a case on my new phone and get it in a protected-state right away, without tempting fate in the very least.

Using Smart Switch between Samsung devices was pretty seamless. It even transferred all my Google accounts as well as my Samsung account. I didn't even have to 2FA my Google account.

If you have a lot of videos and pictures on your Note 9, doing it via PC will drastically increase (double) your transfer time.

Also "Note" that if you choose to transfer your apps over, they will install in the background once the Smart Switch reaches 100%, so don't worry when you hardly see any new apps on your Note 20, at first. I left mine overnight to do its thing.

Thank you. This was so helpful. I should have come to the forums last night. I could be already using my new phone

I went from Note 9 to Note 20 Ultra on Verizon. My Note 20 Ultra is unlocked, the Note 9 was not.

I followed Samsung's instructions regarding the SIM card during SmartSwitch. Sorry I don't recall when I put it in the new phone...

I am using the SIM from my Note 9 in my Note 20 Ultra, and I get 5G Nationwide as well as 5G UWB without issue and without changing plans.

Their website shows that all unlimited plans include 5G Nationwide. While only 2 unlimited plans exclude 5G UWB- Start Unlimited and Just Kids; The other plans all include 5G UWB

Yes, I stand corrected. The same people who told me I need a new SIM card, came back to me a couple hours later and said that they were wrong and that existing LTE SIM cards would work just fine. 🤷🏻
