Hello Note fans. I have had my Note 9 for the past year. I saw a deal with TMobile today where I was able to get the Note 20 Ultra for 800 bucks with trading in my Note 9.

What are the pros and cons of the Note 20 Ultra compared to the Note 9? I have heard the battery life and camera can be questionable.

I have the regular 20 and both those items are steller on my 20 no issues at all.

The camera on the Note 9 is amazing. Does it look just as good if not better than the Note 9?

I heard a lot of this year's Samsung devices have had issues with the cameras. I had the S20 FE and the pictures looked like garbage compared to my Note.

I got the same deal from Samsung trading in my Note10+ and I'm very happy so far. I've only had it for a little over week, but the battery is more than enough based on my usage. I haven't played with all of the features on the camera yet (busy getting the house ready for Christmas), but what I have done I'm really pleased. Check out the dimensions - I have long fingers and the tiny bit of added width helps.

This is good to hear! I really wish Samsung would have made support for the 45 watt charger though with the Ultra! That's a bunch of crap.

I went from the Note 9 to Note 20 Ultra. It's much faster, battery life is much better, camera is better. Fingerprint scanner is slower, but at least it's on the front instead of the back.

I dont mind on the back. But the fingerprint on the Note 9 is the worst I've ever used. It never works. Or it works a short time and then stops. Its very picky. Basically unusable for me. And no matter what I do, whether I clean the scanner or register new finger prints, it goes right back to not working pretty quickly.

The fingerprint reader on the N20U is way better than the one on my N10+.

I never had that issue with my N9. FP reader was very fast and very consistent. I prefer it to my N20U, which is slower.

If I had it to do again, I'd have stayed with my N9. Battery life is pretty much the same, maybe a hair better on the N20U. Maybe. Doesn't do anything faster that I've noticed. Bugs in the Screen Off Memo my N9 did not suffer from. Just kind of so-so about it.

Doesn't seem like they're giving you much for your phone. I got $500 for an S7+ toward the N20U at announce time. Looks like you can get $300-$400 off at Best Buy right now on the N20U w/o a trade, depending on the carrier.

They are giving me 500.

I agree with you..I actually kinda miss my note 9..the ultra isn't much of an upgrade in real life testing as im kinda meh on it as well

Came from a Note 9 and all is great on the Note 20 Ultra except loss of the headphone jack. Which is not much on a monthly basis. S Pen and battery is better and since this maybe the last Note. May need to last for years. Worth the $

Yep, I realize that. But if you can get $300-$400 off with no trade, that means they are really only giving you $100-$200 for it. Might be better off selling it outright, although I have no idea what the market value of it is. Just sayin'.

I went from a Note 9 to Note 20 Ultra.

The upgrades coming will be worth it. N9 will not have anymore Android/ Samsung upgrades. The N20U will have enough to last me.

The camera is much better. Love the zoom.

I've been changing to Bluetooth since I had the N9, since the removal of the headphone jack was the future. No problems without a headphone jack. Or headphones with the phone.

Battery is a bit better.

In the N20U I did two fingerprint scanners with my index finger and my N20U works about 95% of the time. I don't have to worry about getting my camera lens getting fingerprints on it.

The Spen is the same usage. I never changed the tips in any of the last 3 Notes I had so having no extras with this one (hopefully) isn't a big deal.
I used one other fast charging plug because my old one from my S5 died. I still have extra. I only have 2 places at home to charge and the one at work I don't care if it's fast charging.

Overall, with the discount trade-in, it's worth it to me.

Nobody is going to give me that. How would you get 300-400 off of a device without any trading? That doesn't make any sense. The market value for the Note 9 is very low right now it looks like. Without promos, the most I could get for trade on the device is 135-145. Even at Samsung, without promo, their trade in value for the Note 9 is 285. Selling it out right isn't worth the time or effort for me.

500 dollars off for a trade is 500 dollars off. It doesn't matter to me how its looked at. That is a substantial amount.

The only deal that comes close or is even better right now is T-Mobile will give you a free Oneplus 8 or 8T if I trade in the Note 9 with monthly bill credits. And I'm kind of iffy on Oneplus.. so I don't know about that.

Here's one deal. It's a Verizon deal at Best Buy. They give you $400 off with no trade in. There are other carrier discounts at BB also:
https://forums.androidcentral.com/e...%2F6422216.p%3FskuId%3D6422216&token=ciZV7mnX

But the catch is, they give you a credit on your bill over 24 months. So if you remove that phone from your account (upgrade, switch carriers, etc), the credits stop. And you won't realize the full $400 if you pay it off early. So you're basically in a contract to do it.

Still not $500, but I personally kind of like having a spare phone to fall back on. I'd keep it for $100. But that's me. Just trying to throw some other options out there for you to compare to.

You're forgetting the part where they mention they have T-mobile so buying the Verizon variant on sale is not an option for them. Think that's where the disconnect lies in terms of them understanding the promotion you're referring to.

Yeah, another carrier doesn't help me out regardless. T-Mobile is what I have and will not switch. So either Samsung unlocked or T-Mobile.

I still prefer the back, especially with the swipe for notifications feature. Samsung makes a lot of stupid decisions though.

I am still jealous of anyone who is able to use the fingerprint scanner on the Note 9. Mine has never worked.
