Note Pro 12.2: Tempered Glass screen protector

Received mine today and just installed it. Did not use the streamy shower route but did not have any problems. Did have one speck of course in the center so pulled it up and took care the speck. reapplied and no specks, air bubbles etc looks clear as the screen it is covering. Looking at it is like looking at the bare screen with nothing on it. I am not crazy about it not going to the edges like the spigens do so that is the only negative I have. Having said that I am pleased with it because it looks like there is no protector on the screen which is really nice.

Better off getting breakage insurance. Many reports of tempered glass cover AND the screen it's covering breaking in certain falls. It seems to me that it is just a $50 gimmick. Insurance is the best way to go.

I can tell you from personal experience that the glass protectors do work as designed. Had an ipad 4 that was in a case and no screen protector, that now has a broken screen because the dog jumped up and it fell 3 feet onto concrete. Had almost same type of drop for same reason but the ipad was cased and had a spigen tempered r glass protector. Not a mark on either the ipad or the screen protector. So depending on the brand (not all brands are made the same) of the glass protector, they work quite well. FYI the price of the insurance depends on the cost of the device you are trying to get covered.

I just got 2 year square trade insurance for $89.00 on my $699.00 SNP12. I could have gotten 3 years but figure I'll be on to a new one within 2 years. Btw, once you sell or get rid of or just cancel, square trade rebates you the unused portion. I have my 2014 note 10.1 and my note 8 and my lg gpad also insured with them. The whole screen protector thing seems an unnecessary hassle to me. I keep my tablets in protective cases ALWAYS, am careful, have no kiddies around, but you never know when an accident can happen. That's why I have the insurance. About a week after I bought an iPad mini, I dropped it on a cement floor, but had the apple care insurance, took it to the genius bar and was swapped out a new one, so insurance worked for me in that one accident experience. .

So @Nychotxx you have no apps and customizations and tweaks what so ever on your tablet or a minimal amount. I am constantly downloading apps and tweaking mine and changing things. Mine is not rooted so I can't back it all up either. I have had mine weeks and with insurance you get back a stock tablet which I would never be able to get back to the same state as mine is now. For $50 for a screen protector which does work, then I can just clean off the busted screen protector and put on a new one I'll take it. The insurance is a last resort because although you pay the insurance and can get a stock tablet back, the cost of having to put it all back the way I had it is a very steep price and far out ways the $50 dollar cost of the tempered glass. My screen protector has saved my note 3 countless times.

@ganote3 I too have tons of apps tweaks etc like you but it's all, or most of it backed up. When I got my new note pro 12 -- a blank slate so to speak -- EVERYTHING backed up except for my "favorites" on my Internet radio app, so it took me five minutes to install them.. Look, believe me when I say I'm not a big supporter of the insurance business, and other then home and car policies, my tech stuff gets inexpensive damage and replacement coverage. We bought and installed a generator at a cost of $3000 because of the crazy weather. Havent used it once but its there if the power goes. But if screen protectors work for you, great. I just see them as an extra gassle.

Yeah I know they want protect against everything, but they do work on some things and the glass ones are much better than the plastic ones.

I've had tablets for three years and never understood the point of a screen protector on one, until now. The Note Pro is my 4th tablet. I never used a screen protector on any of them before and never had an issue.

Last week I was in a situation with lots of glare on the Note Pro and I noticed several scratches on the screen. They are not deep and I can't feel them with my finger but I can see them with the right reflecting light. They are somewhat trivial but it is the first time I've ever seen a scratch on any of my tablets - and this one is only a month old.

Anyway, I figured I'd give the MIME tempered glass a try. The fit could certainly be better, but it seems good otherwise.

I'm still stumped as to how my screen obtained these scratches. Given my history with other tablets I thought it was pretty hard to scratch a screen.

After spending two days using the MIME screen protector, I'm just about convinced that it will not work for me. The product quality is excellent and appears it will give the screen great protection. I notice the touch screen requires just a tad more pressure, but, that's not a deal breaker. The real issue is the screen glare. I used an anti glare protector before because the bare screen was a little annoying, but the glass protector appears to give off even more glare and light reflection. It may just be that I have sensitive eyes. In any case, I hate to take it off since it looks so good on the screen and will protect it, but, the eye strain is too much. I'll just write it off to a learning experience.

How does one get this pricing? From what I can tell through the tablet insurance option the pricing for tablets in the $500-$749 range is $124.99 for 2 years.

Edit: Figured it out; found a coupon code by googling "square trade coupon code". Used family40 (found on dealcatcher.com) and got the 2 year for $85.

 Having shattered screens on two Samsung phones before, this is not good news.

Here are some shots. It would definitely be nice if there werent such large gaps to the metal frame but I'm totally fine with it. I'll take this with a tempered glass cover over the sticky feel of a plastic film type protector any day.
