On my Samsung Galaxy Note 9Plus, after a recipient opened an of an SMS or MMS I sent, the status would indicate “Read” with the time stamp on the left hand side of the message when the email was viewed. Since using the same SIM card and carrier on my Note20, the message no longer indicate if read. I’ve set the notifications/statuses on the Note20 to resemble my Note 9. It is not the same as a delivery notification.
Samsung online support have not been able to resolve the issue – asking me to go to a Samsung store. They have stated it’s a carrier restriction however I haven’t changed carriers and am using the same SIM card in each phone.
Have others noticed this? Does anyone know the settings please?

I haven't been able to add a screen print to this post showing it.
Thanks,
