Android Central Question

Hello everyone.

I updsted my Note9 to May security patch today when I recieved notification saying an update is avaliable.

I proceeded and downloaded the update and when my phone completed installation, I turned it off and cleared data partition catche.

When my phoone booted back up I got a notification saying " Unable to install software update. Take your phone to Samsung service centre"

I am shocked. My phone works as usual, but when I go to settings and under Software Update, my Last Update box says "There's no information about this update" and I can't press it.

Did anyone else exprience this? Is my phone defect or is this normal?

Phone was bought in Europe and software updated in China today.

Thanks in advance

The phone downloads the update, then installs it in the background in 2 stages. Something tells me that you turned the phone off after it had downloaded the update, but before it fully installed it. If there's a good Samsung factory service center nearby, bring the phone to them. You're probably still on the previous update. (At least blowing a seamless update doesn't leave you with a dead phone, the way it used to before the seamless update system was implemented.)

Thank you for answering!

There's no Service centre here as far as I know.

Do you think doing a backup with Samsung Smart Switch and factory reset would solve anything?

And when i go to software screen it says that it's on May security security update.

Is phone compromised? If I can't take it to service centre, can I use it and wait for the next update?

I hope I can still use my phone!

Best regards
