Note9 or iPhone Xs Max?

I left the n9 due to its poor battery life and camera issues which they still have not fixed. The max I have now destroys my n9 in battery life. I don’t even have to think about it my battery will last. It just does. 5-6 hours of sot with the n9 and 10 plus with the max.

You ought to be ashamed of yourself. Double the battery life is unsubstantiated - can you share your data?

How long is the battery runtime. 10 hours plus for how long between charges.

I get 8 hours average per 60 hours of runtime.

My only real gripe is the camera. Wanna see what happens with the update.

Someone hasn't been hanging out at iPhone forums it seems.

Also, in Apple's rush, none if the newest iPhones should be running less than iOS 12.1. iOS 12.0 is no longer signed. Only 12.01 or above, until 12 1 is out of beta.

Am curious what you were doing that ate your battery so much? I am able to go all day and still have battery left when I put it on the charger. I use it moderately so it isn't like I am babying it.

That's the thing with any mass produced products, be it cars or phones: there will be those that work flawlessly and others that will fall short of the mark. I had an LG G4 that delivered problem-free service right up until the day I traded it in to Samsung for a monster discount on the Note 8. Not a boot loop in sight. When TMO discounted the LG V20 with the launch of the G5 I had to go through 3 before I got one that was worth the price of admission. The 1st one had audio problems while taking videos. The 2nd one had some sort of bug where the OK Google voice command would activate but froze when it came time to provide the requested result. The 3rd time was the charm with a great device that has worked flawlessly since it was unboxed over 2 years ago. Whatever device you choose make sure you put it through all its paces during that window of return and if you have to bring it back do not let them give you an insurance claim unit because you might end up with some refurb that will produce even more headaches down the road. My Note 9 takes great pictures and there is no lag or issues with blurred snaps. This is the first phone I've had that met my needs to the point that I didn't feel the need to add the Google Pixel camera port. I'm very satisfied with the performance of this phone on all levels. It's too bad that others with the same product can't say the same.

From 6am to 10pm I was usually around 20-30% left on the Note 9. I have 70% on the Max. Huge difference. With the same usage. I asked here a while back if my SOT was normal as the Android System was the highest thing, and they said yes. Others had the same results. I am not sure how some get 9 hours of SOT, but I just didn't see that possible. I reset the phone, and tried again. Just wouldn't do it. I know work has weak signal and maybe the iPhone is not as sensitive to that and won't drain the battery as fast in that environment. But either way, it was a big difference.

All I do with my phone is emails, calls, text messages, web browsing sometimes, reddit, tapatalk. And youtube in the evenings before I go to bed catching up on stuff. But usually when I start the YT, I am already at 30%, and drain it to almost nothing at that time. Here is an example of my usage I still have from my N9.

Try this again. Here is the max with the right screen shot at this current moment. 66% left.

Your SOT for the note 9 is double that of your iPhone

Obviously user error if you only get 5hrs SOT with a note 9... there's just too many options to be overlooked..

iPhones are great devices. I have an iPad and iPhone 7 Plus with a note 9.

At the end of the day it’s about what works for you. My family and friends use iMessage so that’s the only thing I miss having handy but my note 9 fits better for my situation of having to juggle two jobs

I agree, both phones are great. For me I’m primarily Apple because of iMessage and continuity which allows me to message from my iPhone, iPads and Macbook, just very handy. I’ve not found an Android app yet that will allow me to do that without getting some new number other than Verizon’s Message+ but it is limited to SMS/MMS framework.

Google’s push for RCS seems a move in the right direction but if Apple won’t get onboard or if Google does another dropping of this, and the carriers don’t follow along, I’ll probably not change out of the Apple ecosystem for my primary needs.

I'm just going say this as I'm a iPhone user plus lot of other devices. iPhone great phone to talk ,text, different wallpaper then it ends there. this note series is different animal it's a work horse that does so much you want . this phone is different league of it's own

Spen not a big deal to me. I want Note 9 for 4k battery and 8gb ram.

I would want to ask Best Buy if they could get me a note 9 unlocked.
Got friends I grew up with.
They have been I phone folks since day 1.
My fishing buddy I grew up with got a note 9 about a month ago.
He ordered a manual for it.
He said he really likes the phone, SD card, stylus pen, and the 4000 ah battery.
I asked him if he misses his eye phone.
He said with all I have learned from the book, and the battery.
No way
I love my note 9.

When you calculate the battery life into it, it is 3X higher on the iPhone. Here is another from last night drained significantly down by watching youtube videos. That first SS was much earlier in the evening just to show some usage example.
