From what I remember for when I did that with mine, you need an OTG cable (just making sure your cable is that type and not just converting the connector from USB to micro USB) and Nexus Media Importer (a paid app, cheap).
You need both of those to read external storage.
If both of those are done, I don't know why that stick doesn't read. I have tried a few sticks and card readers and haven't had any issues.
Try other USB storage to verify the cable does work?
I use nexus media importer and it all works fine other than a few movies being unable to play. I did however read that maximum size of 32 GB flash drives could be used. Anybody used anything on their N10 bigger than that and if so, what is the limit? I'm not rooted yet, but will be soon.
Hello Guys!
I recently bought an N10 for my wife and I got an OTG cable so that she can plug USB flash drives, hard drives, camera, etc.
Yesterday I got the OTG cable and I tested it with my S3 and it works fine, I'm able to access a flash drive. However, when I plug the OTG cable to the N10 nothing happens. If I plug a mouse that does seem to work just fine. So I think the cable is fine.
From reading some other forums and this thread it is still not clear to me if this should just work out-of-the-box or if I really must buy the Nexus Media Importer for this to work. I've read in so many places that this should just work that I'm now confused.
Also, is it true that the Nexus Media Importer is read only and it's not possible to write to the flash drive?
It's a bit disappointing this... :'(
Thanks for your help!
The reason being Google not wanting to pay Microsoft royalties. Thanks very much for your reply bruce7373. It was a bit of a lazy question from my part so I actually googled a bit more and would like to paste some useful links here.
This excellent video says it pretty much all.

And on the application's page it's all very clear under the technical notes section.
It's just weird that Google decided not to include this on the stock firmware.
I got the 64 GB Sandisk Cruzer, connected as shown in the photo. The light on the Cruzer keeps flashing, nothing appears on screen. I checked under "Settings", only Internal Storage appears. Can somebody help?
Thanks,
