I got the 64 GB Sandisk Cruzer, connected as shown in the photo. The light on the Cruzer keeps flashing, nothing appears on screen. I checked under "Settings", only Internal Storage appears. Can somebody help?
Thanks,

Is the extension cable working as it should and does the tablet allow for a external usb stick to be mounted? Have you tried other usb sticks and had them work?

I mean, it could be a driver related issue as the stick may not be interfacing properly with the OS.

From what I remember for when I did that with mine, you need an OTG cable (just making sure your cable is that type and not just converting the connector from USB to micro USB) and Nexus Media Importer (a paid app, cheap).

You need both of those to read external storage.

If both of those are done, I don't know why that stick doesn't read. I have tried a few sticks and card readers and haven't had any issues.

Try other USB storage to verify the cable does work?

Thank you guys! I purchased the Nexus Media Importer, all's good now. The other apps all required rooting, which I don't want to do.

This is exactly what I did. The first thing I did was to to search this forum and that's when I learned about the items mentioned by Raypundo. At first I was confused but then realized that my N10 does not have a windows operating system. I had never heard of an OTG cable, but it was good to find out that I would need it. I just tried it out today and all worked fine. I have this very tiny Sandisk 32gb flashdrive. All I did was transfer some pictures that I need to have with me for a meeting. I don't have a smartphone and I don't like small screens. I think that it takes awhile to get the otg cable from some place in the far east.

I use nexus media importer and it all works fine other than a few movies being unable to play. I did however read that maximum size of 32 GB flash drives could be used. Anybody used anything on their N10 bigger than that and if so, what is the limit? I'm not rooted yet, but will be soon.

My flash drive is 64 gb, no problem here.

Hello Guys!

I recently bought an N10 for my wife and I got an OTG cable so that she can plug USB flash drives, hard drives, camera, etc.
Yesterday I got the OTG cable and I tested it with my S3 and it works fine, I'm able to access a flash drive. However, when I plug the OTG cable to the N10 nothing happens. If I plug a mouse that does seem to work just fine. So I think the cable is fine.
From reading some other forums and this thread it is still not clear to me if this should just work out-of-the-box or if I really must buy the Nexus Media Importer for this to work. I've read in so many places that this should just work that I'm now confused.

Also, is it true that the Nexus Media Importer is read only and it's not possible to write to the flash drive?

It's a bit disappointing this... :'(

Thanks for your help!

If you're not rooted, yes, you need something like Nexus Media Importer. As for writing to a flash drive, it must be formatted with FAT or FAT32. NTFS is read-only. I don't use NMI so can't say what it's limitations are.

Thanks very much for your reply bruce7373. It was a bit of a lazy question from my part so I actually googled a bit more and would like to paste some useful links here.

This excellent video says it pretty much all.

And on the application's page it's all very clear under the technical notes section.

It's just weird that Google decided not to include this on the stock firmware.

The reason being Google not wanting to pay Microsoft royalties.

adding these would bumb up the cost by about $10-15 and in turn will fall on us.

at least with an app install you would get these features.

Hi, I got a 64GB flash drive, and it does show up in my settings. However, whenever I try to update an app, it doesn't work and says I don't have any storage. I don't know what to do. I restarted my device, still same thing. I don't know if I should uninstall the app and reinstall, because I'll lose all my progress, such as if I'm level 123 in a game, etc. Help?!
