Notification bar pops down without being dragged.

In the last few days, my Note 8 has started having this weird issue where I'll be typing and the notification bar will drop down. I first noticed this while texting, but now have noticed it across a variety of apps.

I also decided to try using swype and it conflicts with that as well. You'll be swyping to text and it will suddenly stop tracking my touch.

My gut thinks this is a touchscreen issue, but it's so temperamental it's hard to say. Sometimes I'll use my phone for hours with no issue, then I'll take a minute to send a 2 word text because the notification bar keeps dropping down.

Have no screen protector.
Have no case.
Have never dropped that would cause physical harm.
Have few apps, and no apps were installed that coincided with this issue.
Have not tried factory reset yet.
Have found *#0*# that is supposed to allow me to test touchscreen, but that doesn't seem to work.

Any ideas?

I remember reading about someone having a similar issue with the S8 and it was finally determined it was his screen protector. Do you have one installed on your Note?

OP mentioned that there is no screen protector on the phone.

Same issue, does it at random times. A restart helps stop it for a little but eventually it starts again. No screen protector. Ringke wave case.

I'm experiencing the same issue. Found some others on Reddit and Samsung+ that are having a similar issue. I initiated a return with Samsung (I purchased mine from their site), since I was nearly out of my 15 day window. I figured the process would be easier if i was within that window. Nothing I have tried, including a factory reset, has fixed it. Hopefully my return goes smooth and my new device doesn't have the same issue.

**FIXED** I have an LG Stylo 6 and though it is not the most expensive or desired phone it should last longer when it's taken care of and not have these issues... Anyway I'll get right to it... Having your phone on and simply locking it, so the screen goes off, (this sounds weird but it 100% works, EVERYTIME) turn the phone screen down, and bang it off ur knee, hard enough to just not break the screen, and hit the top the bottom and Center a few times... Turn it screen up, like the glass for good measure and use your phone as a normal. You're welcome

SO AS THE PERSON WHO GAVE ME THE SOLUTION WROTE, JUST TAKE GOOD CARE OF YOUR PHONE AND TRY NOT LETTING IT FALL WHILE KEEPING IN MIND THE DELICACY OF YOUR SCREEN (INVEST IN A PROTECTIVE COVER), AND YOUR PHO E SHOULD WORK FINE 100% LIKE HE SAID. Welcome to Android Central, and I'm glad this thread helped you! BTW, typing in all caps is often construed as yelling, so in the future, just toggle that Caps Lock off, and type as if you were typing a regular letter to someone with normal capitalization.:)
