Notification bar, recents, not working

[Android Central Question]

I have a Nord 1 plus and the other day while I was at work, I noticed my phone shut off by itself. When I turned it back on, I can't pull my notification bar down all the way ( I use mobile hotspot a lot) and my recent button won't activate so I can clear the cache.. Please help, this phone is brand new

Welcome to the forums. Can you open your settings? If so, go to Storage and see how full it is.

If you can't find a way to open the settings try this. Long press an empty spot in your home screen, select Widgets, scroll down until you find Settings 1x1, drag it to the screen and select Storage. Tap that new widget and tell us what you see.
