Is there a way to brighten it on ICS? It's so dark that I can barely see the icons.

i noticed that too. i just brightened the screen in general. seemed to help.

It's my understanding Google did this on purpose... to save battery life.

It is dark, but I absolutely love the notification bar compared to GB. Especially when you pull it down. I was not a fan of the shade of blue on GB

I love the tron style theme of pure ics. The notification bar is perfectly fine even at low brightness settings. Having almost the same look with 4.0.4 is making my transition from the Gnex a bit easier. I've only had my Maxx since Tuesday and they sent me a unit that wasn't repaired correctly as there is a little gap at the bottom of the screen where it meets the Verizon logo but getting 4 plus hours of screen time and still having 40% is just plain amazing. People can talk all the smack they want about moto but they got it right while other manufacturers are still putting out lte phones with batteries half the size or even smaller then the massive maxx battery.

is it safe to assume you are using the auto brightness and display power saver option?
