Notification Icons question

When I recieve a new message or email or whatever, when is the notification icon in the status bar supposed to go off? Mine will go off as soon as I click the messages app...I could have sworn a few days ago it would wait until I had read the actual thread before it went off.

hmmm........As far as I know, its supposed to go off as soon as you receive the message or email. Not when you click into the appropriate app. Probably wouldn't hurt to reset the notification options and restart you phone and see if that didn't help. Other than that, I'm stumped.

From my experience, this phone sometimes does whatever it feels like. As ZeroRilix said, just do a restart whenever it seems to be acting wierd.
