Does anybody know where the Notification icons are located in the Android system? Things like the 3G indicator, battery indicator and that annoying "roaming" indicator in Myn's ROM that I want to eliminate?

LOL. I knew you were gonna try and do that if you tried Myns haha. I wish I knew though.

Just being anal about it. I love the ROM otherwise. Modifying this ROM is the first step towards cooking my own one day.

Awesome. I'll be sure to test it out when that happens.... missing roam icon and all haha...... I gotta learn how to do this stuff man :\

"Yeah, I didn't really notice that this was the roaming icon, I just assumed it was part of the theming. I tested this, and was correct.. if you see an upside down triangle with a bar hanging under it, then it's not roaming, that's just indicating that the indicator you're looking at is the tower. It is part of the theme. If you are roaming, the entire signal indicator has a light gray background with a right-side-up triangle with no bar under it. The signal looks like it's in a box. Just so everybody knows, you are not actually roaming. I posted a couple pics to show you. If you have the symbol in the first pic, then you're roaming. If you have the symbol in the second pic, then you're not roaming. The reason I thought it was roaming was because it is pretty similar to the standard roaming icon, whereas a lot of other roms don't have a themed signal icon, and the HTC default does not show any icon above the signal when it's not roaming. No worries "

interesting, I still want to know where it's located. I have torn apart the damn ROM file

Wow i was just about to post that, i already found it too lol.

Well i might as well tweak stuff while im here...

Damn this addiction...

I thanked him anyway. I am having a hard time flashing it though. It doesn't even give me an error message, just flashes a bit. I took my phone's case off, I am getting serious.

Slow down. Did you re-sign?

I don't know how, and I did disable the signature verification if that does anything. I decided to not unzip the folder and instead just directly edit the files using 7Zip, maybe it will work.

If it doesn't, how do you sign ROM's?

I got it to flash, but the stupid triangle thing is there. Either that's the wrong file I modified, or the change didn't stick hence the correct flash. I will mess with this more tomorrow. Thanks for the link.

No problem, goodluck mate.

The PNG's you need to replace, in a stock framework, are called something like signal_r_(insert number of bars) .... or something like that. The naming convention needs to stay the same as an XML is looking for PNG's with that naming convention.

Example:
If the roaming signal PNG's in the framework you want to keep are named signal_r_(1-4), you need to make sure the PNG's you place in the framework are named the same otherwise the XML won't find them to display them. You also need to verify the size is the same. If someone changed the size of the status bar and is now using 42x42 icons (example) your 36x36 icons are gonna look silly.

Next up, once you've decided which PNG's you're going to replace and have the ones you're replacing them with, the best method of getting them inside the frame (IMHO) is 7zip.

Example:
Take all the PNG's you want to insert, right click on them, and create a zip file. Open that zip file with 7zip. Now go to the framework file you will be putting the PNG's into and open that with 7zip. Drive to the directory in the framework you want to place the PNGs and copy them over (from one 7zip window to another). By copying them from 7zip to 7zip you've maintained the integrity of the signature. Slowly back out of the framework folders and you'll receive a popup telling you that it needs to update the archive ... let it do this.

Now, let's say you want to animate something. Suppose there is 1 PNG for SYNC, the round circle. You want the round circle to spin. You need to create PNGs frame by frame (or close to it, not exactly) of said circle spinning. those need to be placed into the proper directory then the corresponding XML file needs to be edited to look for said new PNGs in the proper order which will make it appear to spin.

Hope this helps.

Thank you Kev, I decided to use that method rather than making a completely new ROM and having to sign it. I managed to get rid of the stupid triangle :). I posted a screenshot as well.
