Notification Indicator

How do I set my phone to give an audible notification when it's my turn in games such as Words with Friends. I see the icon in the status bar but can't figure out how to turn on a sound notification.

It depends on the app, but in general is best to have media volume up, as that's where the sounds come from.

Yeah well the app itself when in play makes sounds, so I don't think it's a question of volume settings for the app. It's just that there isn't an audible notification sound (again, their is a visual one in the status bar). Is there not some place in settings that allows you to manage notifications on an app by app basis?

On android the app itself is in charge of notifications, not the OS

That's why you have to go into your texting app to change the notification info and not do it in android settings

Words doesn't support audible notifications right now without some kind of hack

So it is on an app-by-app basis, in that each app has its own settings menu (or doesn't if the dev so chooses)
