notification led on right top not working

I saw the notification led on right top was dimmed so forced restarted. There after I don't see the led working any more. I see the icons in bottom tray but no more led blinking on right top. Please help? Is this a hardware deffect?

Just to be clear. When you get an email, with the screen off, the light doesn't blink? Once you wake up the tablet, the light stops.

same here. Stopped working after 3.1 update. No LED light for gmail.
