Notification light?

So, I found this option after the Android 11 update. Has this always been there?? I've had my phone for nearly 3 years and feel like I would have noticed this setting before. I enabled it and discovered there's a notification light on the top right of the bezel! Have I somehow overlooked this setting for the last 3 years or has that light been there this whole time and we only just now got access to it??

Man, I wish I'd discovered that sooner... That was one of the few things I actually missed from my previous Samsung, not having to turn my screen on to see if I had a notification...
