Notification light

It would be awesome if a future os update activates the notification light.

That's what I'm hoping for, as I have no clue at all about rooting and such (feel no need other than LED and double tap to wake and sleep).

What I'd like to know is, if you turn on LED notifications, does the ambient display still work?

Meaning if you are rooted and you enable led with lightflow will you have led and ambient? The answer is yes, unless you turn ambient off.

If you want to root but are unsure, I highly suggest wugs toolkit.

I doubt it'd just be enabled with a firmware update. If it were meant to be a feature, why would they stick it behind the speaker? I haven't seen in person, but I'm sure it doesn't look nearly as nice positioned there, as apposed to being out on the bezel somewhere.

I bet it's there as a diagnostic indicator or something, never intended to be seen by the everyday user.

You're right. I had an HTC Thunderbolt which had the notification light behind the speaker. You could barely see the light when it was on.

I can say the LED light is pretty prominent when its on, even if its under the speaker.

Well, with those now getting 5.1.1, it looks like Google still hasn't enabled it.
It's odd why they even have the light back there if they aren't going to use it.

Most newer phones that still use a led notification have the light placed in the speaker grill i.e. HTC M7, M8, & M9 and also the Xperia Z3 & Z4
