I just upgraded from a s9+. With that phone, when I had a new text message, missed call, voicemail, etc, a little blinking light would notify me if my screen was black. I can't seem to find this setting on my s21+. Was this feature removed?

Notification LEDs are pretty much dead. A lot of people use an app which I believe is called holey light to simulate it.

Found it on S21+ 5G but it's not working.
May be missing a setting.

Did you ever get this working, or did you find some other workaround, or an app maybe? I just updated to S21 from an older Samsung, and that little blue blinking notification LED is a feature that I am missing like crazy..... thanks

Still very intermittent. Using brief pop-up settings under Notifications. Works with very few apps.

That was a great feature, yes? I miss that LED notification light every now and then!

Maybe the S22 will have a notification LED or similar feature via front camera portal, or edge lighting on the screen? Wishful thinking maybe. This thread reminded me how I do miss having a notification LED like those on Blackberry and older Samsung phones.

Is Edge Lighting able to simulate an LED notification light? Or is that via an app like the one recommended above?

Try this one in play storeView attachment 340835

I totally agree. The notification light is a must have for me. Was so annoyed when they got rid of it, along with SD card. I have read a few rumours on the S22 series and have not seen any mention of either returning. Hopefully Samsung will surprise us. 🤞🤞

I use aod notify and like it. Lots of options.

Would love the return of the old led notifications light but that app works pretty good i just like having it native

I just posted this in another thread, perhaps it will be useful here as well...

Go to Settings>Accessibility>Advanced settings>Flash notification. Here you can turn on the camera flash as a notification tool and/or the screen. What they do is pretty self-explanatory but JIC FYI. Flash notification makes your camera flash for calls and notifications and the screen setting does the same for the screen. Both are really bright, work with reminders and are hard to miss. They're built into the phone so there's nothing to install. They are meant to act as notifications so there's nothing to set up. I'm pretty sure you can use Bixby to change their settings. So if the light going off at night bothers you, you can use Bixby to create a routine where these settings are only on during the day.

Best wishes

Yeah, I just picked up an S21 this weekend and was pissed when I found out the light notification feature was gone. Someone needs to lose their job over that.
Gonna give AODNotify a shot.

Where would it go, there are no bezels?

Did you see my post right above yours? That is as close to a real light as you will get but if AOD works for you great. I'm just not a fan of AOD.

Best of luck

I've been using that app for about a week. It seems OK. Certainly not as simple as the old blinking blue LED. I immediately upgraded to the paid version.

I still find it annoying (and disturbing) that Samsung eliminated that great little feature.

Yeah, I'm on the free version and as you said, it's OK. I think it may get me by. LOL

I like the new notifications where the screen perimeter lights up. I have mine set that has all kinds of colors

Notifications/brief pop-up settings ? If so, working with all apps?
Unfortunately, not all apps working for me.
