Notification not playing sound

My notification sound when I use Google Pay has stopped playing. It is enabled in the app and I have assigned a sound to it.

I get the notification on the drop down menu.

If I go to Notifications, and Recently Sent, Google pay does not show up, even when I have just made a payment.

I have a feeling it is something I have turned off, but I'd like it back on again.

How do I enable this, so that I get the sound to play when I make a payment?

You can long press that app then tap info clear cache and force stop it , if that don't work Long press it again tap notification make sure it looks ok there.
 
Force Stop first, so it doesn't add anything to its cache or data while you're clearing things.
 
Nope - still the same. I don't think the problem is with the app, but rather the way the OS handles notifications. I get the drop down Google notification, but no sound. If I go into notification settings, Google Pay does not appear in the Recently Sent list so i'm guessing it must appear here to trigger the sound.

I've just tried, App Notifications, - Show System Apps, the Android System and enabled Enterprise Billing. Will try again at some point. I have no sleeping apps and Data Saver is not in use.

Try reset app preference
Go to phone settings>Apps tap>3 fits upper right corner , scroll to app preference see what happens

OK, just tried it. Will see what happens next time I pay by contactless. BTW I did try Settings, General Management and Reset and that too failed to fix the issue.

Ok, hope this one works for you , I'm beginning think Android pie (9.0) having this issue across all phones.
 
TBH I think it is something I turned off when trying to stop some stupid popup warning me my device would slow down and drain the battery, which happened every time I used the browser. I was playing with the notification settings to try and stop this and it hasn't worked since, but I can't remember exatcly what I did because it took numerous attempts to stop the thing.

Oh I see , hopefully this works or you find what u did
 
Ha. Well that failed spectacularly. Had to use my card. Not sure if I have to make the other app the default one, both apps on phone and neither kicked in. (Do you need to start Samsung pay first?)
Had a queue behind me so paid with card. Got outside, checked NFC was on, it was.

Time for a play.

Yes definitely make one default and setup
 
Ah, it works differently - have to open the app first and authorise it, then it's live for 15 seconds to pay.
With google Pay I just unlocked the phone and it worked straight away. I had already changed the default method to Samsung.
