Notification shade pulldown harder during calls?

So I've noticed that anytime I'm on a phone call, it requires significantly more effort to successfully pulldown the notification shade.

Usually I just quickly flick from the top of the screen, but on a call I have to slowly drag from top to bottom. Funny though, tapping the top of the screen registers.

It's almost as if the sensitivity of the screen drops or they've got some logic that makes you use more effort.

Anyone else have this problem. I plan to return the phone over this. It's infuriating.

I don't have that problem on mine. Notification shade pulls down easily during a call.
Well how much effort do you usually put into the pulldown? I think if you use a lot of effort in the first place, you probably won't notice anything.

Usually I flick my thumb from the top of the screen and it doesn't even pass the status bar before the shade appears.

On a call however, I need to do it just a tad slower or pull just a little longer (it's almost imperceptible, but I notice it).

I'm still deciding if this is worth a return or not. I thought perhaps the digitizer was bad, but if that was the case it wouldn't make a difference whether I was on a call or not.

I've had issues with this on multiple phones. I've always figured it had something to do with the proximity sensor, like it will disable touch input shortly before or after it goes off. And since the proximity sensor is near the top of the screen where you would pull down the notification shade, it would cause issues. When you're on a call, the proximity sensor is active.

I had a feeling that might be it. So does your particular HTC 10 experience this?

My old Moto X and my Note 7 didn't have this issue, but then I didn't own the Note for very long.

Edit: btw how did you solve this? If you did at all.

The proximity sensor on the 10 is right in the center underneath the speaker. Pulling the notification shade down from the sides, avoiding the center, seems to work best.

Hmm I don't know if I should replace the phone over this.

I just tested this again making sure my phone was facing bright light and my hands were out of the way (testing the proximity sensor theory).

I'm pretty certain it has to be a design flaw/oversight that might be present on a replacement. It's also not that much of a big deal but it's very noticeable anytime I'm on a call and using my phone at the same time.

You just have to pull down for an smidgen longer than you're used to. Bleh I'll ask HTC for a replacement instead of doing a refund.

I have the same issue. I've always assumed it is related to the proximity sensor.
Thanks for confirming. Well seems this is a design "feature/flaw" that won't be fixed by a replacement; I think I might be able to deal.

I initially thought I had an issue that was indicative of another problem.
