notification sounds

Can anyone tell me how to add a mp3 sound to the notification sounds. When I long press the file it doesn't give me the option.

I have a Disney sound that she wants as a text notification sound. It doesn't show up in the list, just as a music file. Is there someplace to add it when I connect the phone to my PC? I added it to the music folder.

Create media/notifications/ on your sd card and put it in there.

exactly what process are you using to try and get the mp3 as a ringtone...there are a few different ways.
