Notifications and calls

I not sure where I read it but can't find it now, is there a way to silent all notifications but leave a few family members etc to still work? Mainly
Looking for this because working nights and sleeping during the day the phone is difficult to leave on. Thanks

I use an app called afirewall which will only allow specific phone calls through. As far as notifications, each app is the way to silence. I use MailDroid which allows a "quiet time" for notifications of email.

There is supposed to be a feature like that built in to the jelly bean update and you have to find it as it was hidden for some reason. There are threads about it here I know I have seen them. I will search and if I can find them will post a link.

If Mcgoo has Verizon you are correct, Blocking Mode, is hidden for Verizon. There are ways that you can still use it. I found some ways on forums and tried using it but it did not work. There are some Verizon users who reported that it has worked for them.

For calls Semi Silent is the app I use when I mute all but my alarm. It still allows the contacts you check off to get through. I have my house and wife's cell phone numbers so no matter where I am or what status the sound is she can get hold of me. It has not been updated for a while but works on my GD3 with stock 4.1.1.

I was using Timeriffic running ICS on my Dorid X. I upgraded to GIII running Jelly Bean (stock) It wasn't the same.
I have sents found Profile Scheduler adding the white list for my family. its doing what I was looking for. I liked so much that I paid for the + version just to get the widgets on the home page

Sorry forgot to mention yes I'm on VZ and my phone is stock running 4.1.1.

Using JB

You can block up to 100 numbers.
Open the phone dialer.
Menu
Call settings
Call restriction
Auto reject mode + on
Auto reject list
Enter the number/s you want to block.
