Notifications aren't working

I just purchased my S7 edge last night and I cannot figure out why I am not receiving notifications for my Gmail accounts. I receive notifications from Twitter so this is odd. Any ideas? I've already gone into notifications and my Gmail is marked as receiving notifications...Thanks everyone.

Have never gotten the number count on my Gmail. It's ridiculous. If you use the Samsung app for your Gmail account it'll work there. I don't like it's form factor though so I'm stuck checking my email all the time.
