Notifications for email and facebook?

I have everything on the setting to notify my via vibrate and ringtone when i get new messages but neither of the apps will notify me. I have to manually refresh both clients to see if I have any new messages. Am I doing something wrong or is it an app problem?

When you set up your notifications did you set them up in you email app?

You should set the email notification by opening your email then hit menu>settings and at the bottom you should be able to change you notification settings.

Yes, i did the notifications in the settings of both the email app and the facebook also.

The facebook app for android leaves a lot to be desired. I have not found a decent alternative yet other than setting my facebook account up to notify me via sms.

I use Bloo for notifications in Facebook. Much more reliable and will notify you of everything in your online "notifications" list.

is the email in question a gmail email?

Im having a simlar problem ... Today is my first day back to work since getting the phone, so I go to Settings<Sound & Display<Sound Profile and slelect "vibrate" since at work, i want everything to be vibrate only.

Hours go by and i notice I havent gotten any alerts... look at the phone... and... I have... just silent.
Seems the ONLY thing that will vibrate is phone calls. I tried texting myself from multiple phones, emailing from multiple email accounts/providers, and 2 different twitter progs.
All of them are set to vibrate as well as alert, and, by me setting the profile to "vibrate" all alerts of any kind should vibrate.

What am I missing?
