Notifications issue

Hi,
Not sure if this is a phone issue or a facebook application issue. Recently I have been getting a notification on my phone saying I have 6 new facebook notifications but when I click on the notification link it goes into facebook but comes up as can't connect, but when I exit out of that and go into facebook from my apps it connects no problem and I have no notifications.
Anyone else have this issue, or know a way to stop this issue short of uninstalling facebook as that's my next option as the app seems to be just constantly getting updated lately.

What happens if you go to the App Manager, select Facebook, and Clear Cache/Data, then Force Stop and then open it again? You'll have to log in again, then wait a few seconds for it to sync your data.
