Notifications on Home Screen

Hello,

New HTC one owner here. Phone is fantastic, as expected.

One thing I've had some trouble with is notifications, specifically text and email.does anyone know how to have the phone turn on/light up when receiving a text or email?

There must be a setting somewhre that I just can't find.

I was not able to find anything about having the screen light up when I receive a text/email (if the phone has been dormant) in the user manual.

Does anyone else have this issue?

I have. This is my first HTC as well. I downloaded "notify lite" from the play store and am happy with it so far. Tons of options and allows me to make the screen turn on when I get a new notification. I would rather not have to use an app for this, but I don't seem to have a choice. Give it a try, it's free.

Works great except for that when you're already in the message app, the notification box pops up and also in the notification bar, even if you've read the message/responded to it, the icon still stays.

Download Screen notifications, the the apps icon is a poorly drawn lightbulb, but works like a charm

This might be what you're looking for. You need to use Nova Prime launcher and Missed It. You can have a notification badge on any app with this set up:
