Every day or so my notifications randomly mute. I have to go to settings/sound/volume and manually move the volume slider back to the right. I can't figure out why it happens. I thought I was accidentally pressing the volume rocker on the left edge of the phone while pressing the power button on the right side of the phone. But I've 'trained' myself to be careful, and it still happens. Could any apps be responsible for this?

Welcome to Android Central! If you boot the phone into Safe Mode, that can tell you if an app you installed is causing the issue: https://support.t-mobile.com/docs/DOC-37540.
Also, are you using stock tones, or custom ones? If the latter, does it also happen with the stock tones?
