Notifications when using messages for web

Whenever I use messages for web on my Chromebook, and my phone is on the other end of the room... I constantly get a notification on my phone like every 30 seconds. Nothing shows up on my Chromebook and when I go to my phone nothing is there. Anyone know what's going on and how to shut it off?
