Notifications while on the phone

Maybe its just me, but is there a setting on the phone that makes the phone play the sound but NOT vibrate when you're on the phone and get a text? I can't figure out how to do this...and if anyone has a good (free) profile maker, that would be great too... I'm coming from a BB and I just can't figure out how to get it to make the sounds when I want them!

Not for the stock SMS app, but something like Handcent SMS (which you would probably like better then stock) has the option for vibrate or sound notifications while on a phone call.
