I am one of those OCD types that can't stand the notification icons, beeps, or blinks to stuff I don't feel the need to be notified about. So I have gone in to each and every app I have and I've un-checked the box for notifications. This works for a very short time, then I start getting notifications again. I go back in to the app manager and the boxes are checked!!! Why does my phone get to decide what notifications I get instead of me? If my phone feels that it knows better than I do which notifications I should get, then why is there an option to turn it off that does not even work? Please help! I have a GS4 Active with developer options turned on.

Welcome to Android Central! That shouldn't be happening. So you're turning off notifications by going to the App Manager? What about opening the apps, tapping Menu>Settings, and turning them off from within the app's own menus?
