Is it normal that I'm not getting sound alerts when I get notifications. The sound works fine when I get a call, but texts, emails, and other notifications only vibrate with no sound?

Watch does not do sound notifications yet from what I have seen.

The only sounds I've heard the watch make so far are from a incoming phone call. Kind of weird, why have the phone ring but not an e-mail or text? I would think that as thing progress and the new AW 6.0 starts to filter out, stuff like that will open up.

Yeah, terrible omission. Unconscionable, actually. Imagine that Android for phones only vibrated for call, alarms and timer app. Google would have to put out an update to address the outrage in 20 minutes.

I personally prefer a silent watch, and a silent phone as well.

Right there with ya. I think that's part of what I like about the smartwatch so much, I can still get all of my notifications without having to make any noise. It's a very unobtrusive way to get information. However, I think when doing sporting activities, running or biking, sounds might be nice because you won't necessarily feel the vibration when doing stuff like that. Long story short; options are good.

Considering AW just got speaker support, developers will have to update their apps to utilize the speaker. Sounds like (no pun intended) the only app that was updated in time for release was the phone app, most likely because it was written with speaker use in mind from the get-go. Even the other core AW apps have never had a speaker to contend with, so it makes sense that they can't take advantage of it yet.

I totally get that. At the same time, I guess they should have not bothered with sounds for calls, alarms and timer?
This thread is about notifications, nothing else. The things you mentioned do work, don't they?

Nothing annoys me more than a person nearby constantly has their phone beeping. But, as I said, it is my personally preference.
