So i got a brand new s7 edge sm g935w8 (single sim) (no carrier) Canadian variant and it's not rooted.

Its on marshmallow.
But i have read on the internet that nougat is available for my phone but ota says i am on the latest version.

I am using it in Pakistan. Can this be the reason for why i can't get ota or is my phone broken/fake? My father has the sm g935fd version and it updated to nougat.

If the reason is my location should i wait or flash the nougat version.

Kindly excuse me if its a foolish question but i have never faced such problem before.

Thanks.

Connect to Smart Switch and see if you get an update. Some updates are staggered and may not be available to everyone at the same time.

Welcome to the forum! No, it's not a foolish at all. @pankaj981 gave good advice. The rules for updates to unlocked phones are different than carrier locked so you may want to try and contact Samsung directly to see what is available. There could also be information on their support website. Good luck and let us know how it goes.

i tried connecting to smart switch it says i am on latest version. i also tried changing the csc that didn't work either. i have tried the manual update check too but still no update. i am thinking of using odin but is there any chance that the phone gets messed up even if i follow all the steps correctly.
