Nougat update failed?

Same issue with my Nexus 6P since two days checking for update but nothing. Cannot find anything on internet as well. Any news?

No and to be honest with you, I just got the latest beta test build of nougat 7.0 on my 6p, and it seems fine.

Same thing happened to me, no beta, downloaded but was unable to install. Currently running Marshmallow again.
No one seems to know if there is a way to redownload and try again, except for the sit and wait option, or beta.

I think it was the security patch prep update for Nougat and not actually Android 7 update. I believe mine was only 21 MB in size

Same for me on 6P, got the OTA update, loaded, rebooted in 6.01. I have tried the Beta enrollment and stopped and started that a few times over last 48 hours but no joy. Any fix's about?

I got the update notification earlier and immediately started the download followed by the install process. I set my phone down to let it do its thing and install the update. I looked back at it a few minutes later and there it was asking me for the password pattern. I entered it and it turned out that the update had failed because im now back to 6.0.1 Marshmellow and can no longer see the update after manual checking for it. Anyone else have this problem as well?

I've just seen this on another forum -

Hello Chuck

Welcome to Nexus Help Forum

Dont worry, Its the September patch only. Its shown 7.0 because the official nougat is out thats why, your OTA for Nougat will hit you in coming days.
Please be Patient.

Best of Luck,
Anoop

Received the small Sept security update to "prepare for nougat" then shortly thereafter successful reboot, received the OTA for Android 7 Nougat, appx 1100MB+ filesize. it downloaded. I clicked install. it counted down to reboot, then look back at my regular Android 6.0.1 homescreen. Has anyone figured out what is happening? Update screen shows "system up to date." Is there something I can do to get it to recognize that it did not update?

Same experience as everyone has described (6P on Google Fi). It downloaded the update, optimized apps etc. over the weekend and then boots up to 6.0.1. It was definitely the 7.0 update, not the security update. Since then my device has said it is up to date even though it was running 6.0.1.

I tried the 'enroll in beta' option which didn't work. After waiting a while, I un-enrolled and immediately went to check for updates .. the 7.0 upgrade was there. It seems that un-enrolling made it push an update to my phone for the latest stable version to my device (7.0). In progress - if I don't follow up then it was successful.

Hope it works for y'all.

Nope and nope.. it downloaded it, verified it then gave me the 'restart and install' option which I clicked. Then it started the countdown to restart but instead, halfway through, it went back to the System Updates screen that says your system is up to date. Did not restart, did not complete install.

Why can't we just choose to DL/install it? What is tripping this up?

Ok so I figured the last 'failed' update was actually a successful update (the clue was the small file size i.e. it was the security patch). Finally this evening the full 7.0 update hits my device. Downloaded and verified. Hit restart and install and.... back to the your system is up to date screen! Wtf?!

Same thing just happened to me. Installed the security patch, then was prompted to download and install 7.0, that finished and I got the "install" button, but when I touched that, it just went back to the "Your system is up to date" screen.

Same experience for me, downloaded and installed the 7.0 update, clicked on restart and install and.... nothing. This is the second time this has happened. So where did that big file that I downloaded go??

Awesome. I wondered the same thing - checked in the storage area immediately after the fail and could not see anything indicating this 1.1gb file was anywhere.

It is times like these I wish I wasn't OCD.

I just had the same experience. I'm on a 6p and not on the beta program. I got the security patch yesterday and got the Android 7.0 OTA update today. I ran the 7.0 update and got an "Error!" message on the screen. When it eventually rebooted I was back on marshmallow.
The Nougat update has been a complete mess! After all the preview releases you would have thought this update would run smoothly.

Same thing just happened to me. Installed the security patch, then was prompted to download and install 7.0, that finished and I got the "install" button, but when I touched that, it just went back to the "Your system is up to date" screen. This was a 1 GB download for Android 7.0 and not just a security patch.

The update was successful. Here is precisely what I did.

1. reset to factory (backup data of course)
2. on the intro screens, I said yes to all google services but unchecked all my apps (as in, do not restore apps)
3. system update option appeared and I clicked go. I noticed when it was getting close to finished and clicked update and restart quickly.

All set on my end.
