Nova Launcher crashing on Lollipop

I've been having problems for the last three weeks with Nova Launcher Prime crashing. There is no kind of pattern to it; it has happened in all kinds of circumstances. I've been using Nova on all my Samsungs, tablets and smartphones for years. Never experienced anything like this. I'm using the S6 now, and had been using it for months before this problem appeared, seemingly out of nowhere. I've reinstalled, cleared caches, tried to discern a pattern, all to no avail. I joined this forum a few days ago, hoping to see if anyone else was having this trouble. Good news, others are seeing it, bad news, no one seems to have definitive answer. This is already too long I'll just say I'll keep trying to figure something out and will check back here often.

I found one thing that makes it crash for sure, clicking 'close all' in the app manager

I'm having the exact same problem on the SGS6.

Nova crashes since ~ 2 weeks permanently.
I tried everything from clearing all data and so on.. nothing helped.
After a fresh installation of Nova everything worked fine, until the first reboot of the phone. After that, there is no way to get it working again, except for reinstalling again...

This is the memory leak bug in lollipop. From what I know there's no fix yet for it. I've had this problem for about 3-4 months now. I had to do a complete wipe every 3 weeks when it got bad with nova crashing constantly.

Then I read somewhere on the sprint version to turn off connection optimizer for a temp fix. It does work cause its been more than a month since I had to do a complete wipe. It still shows up time to time cause for some reason the optimizer turns on by itself. I just turn it off again and the crash goes away. This is for sprint so I am not sure if it's the same for other carriers. Hopefully this can help some of you.

I've been using Nova for years now over many different versions and I've never had issues with it crashing. Are you installing it straight from the Play Store? If you're getting it from a 3rd party location (or the black market) then there's no telling what someone else may have done to the apk. They could always insert malware, spyware, etc in it and pass it off as legit.

In short, I would suggest clearing the app data, uninstalling, deleting any backups (from TiBu, etc) and reinstalling from scratch to see if they problem remains. If it does then it could be another app interfering in some way but I wouldn't know a good way to test that hypothesis.
