Just upgraded to the note 5 and im really enjoying the samsung themes but i hate that i can only customize 4 of the 5 home tray icons.
Decided to try out nova launcher (never been one to use them since palm pre era)

I LOVE this launcher so far ESPECIALLY the option to add MORE apps to the home tray. My question is how can i use the launcher and use my really cool stock theme icons...
(I've searched but guess no one likes stock icons)

Yeah Nova Launcher is a beast!!! Are those icons a seperate icon pack or one of the themes in Touch Wiz?

Under Look & feel>Icon theme and set to System doesn't that bring them up?

Great question I wish I had an answer for! I will say though, Once you go NOVA it's hard to go back to touchwiz lol

I tried that. It still won't use the pre-installed theme. I even tried changing the theme all nova did was change the background.. oh are you using the prime version maybe that my problem. I'm using the free version to try it out.

So it seems that it works with themes that have downloaded from the Google Play app store however the Samsung themes that I downloaded don't seem to work. I downloaded some icons from Google that resemble the ones that I wanted so I guess I'll make do with those.

LINE launcher will allow you to use any icon you want. With LINE launcher it's called a sticker. Make the image you want a sticker and assign a function or app to the sticker and whalla! It's like Burger King; you can have it your way.

You can also mix & match, share, rip, swap...whatever you want to call it, any icon with any theme.

I found a solution, that might not be for everybody though...

If you use Bubble Cloud Widgets, you can assign various icon packs to your app bubble clouds:

And they explain in this video how you can use the system default icon pack:

Okay, so I had the same problem and I found a solution that works on my device!
You need to have root in order to do this.

1. Have Root Browser Installed from Play Store
2. Have QMG to PNG converter installed : QMG to PNG converter for theming Samsung TouchWiz APKs – The Android Soul
3. Open the Qmg2Png app > Documents > (Open from) Root Browser > data > app > Then find the theme file ending in ".appicon-1", mine was com.(creators name).(theme name).appicon-1 > base.apk
4. Extract and convert in Qmg2Png

The .png files should now be stored in the output folder listed in the Qmg2Png app (sdcard/Qmg2Png/base/res/drawable...). You can set the icons as you normally would in Nova Launcher, Edit>Gallery apps>Gallery>drawable...

This method worked on my Note 4 N910G with X-Rom (Note 7 port).
