Nova launcher pure beauty and why i love android

The other workaround I found on the Smart Note for the home page is to open Smart note from the side panel as a multi tasking window, One of the buttons at the top, under the multi-tasking circle, will give you an option to Collapse Note and that will put it into a red circle that you can drag around the page or open when you need it. Same thing really as the other person who thought to minimize it.

Go to the app drawer, find the phone, press & hold, drag it to the screen.

Another way to do the same is press&hold on an empty spot of your screen. A menu will pop up, select apps, scroll down until you find the one you want and select.

Thanks
But neither work??? Press and hold nothing comes up.....check apps....no phone
go back to stock...all there ??? strange??

That's very strange. Reboot the phone just in case and try again. The Nova menu when you press & hold is the main feature to add things in your screen so it should work.

There's an option to lock the desktop but a message pops up telling you that.

Are you saying that if you long-press on a blank part of a homescreen that you don't get a Nova "add to home screen" pop-up?

The choices on that pop-up are: Nova Actions, Apps, Shortcuts, widgets, Wallpapers.

How do you change the looks of the icons? In Nova settings all I see is 3 different theme packs which change the way the icons look. System, jellybean and lollipop.

Do I need to download theme packs?

You can download icon packs from the play store or use some apps, like Simple text, to create a new one.

To change just an icon do this. Press & hold on it, select edit and on the little pop up click on the icon. Then you can scroll between the different options for icons in you phone. Select one and when back to the little pop up just press on the tick (left top corner). This works for apps, folders, shortcuts, ...

Long press any icon to change its appearance or text

Nova is awesome and you don't miss out on any touchwiz features either

What about the calendar widget? I couldn't find a free one in the app store that would also let me set appointments and such. They were all just straight calendars. Any pointers here for someone new to Nova?

Try digiCal or aCalendar, they have free versions that are still useful
