I just want to give a heads up to people who use launchers such as Nova about the "knock-on" or "knock-knock" feature. That feature is great and without it I would not keep this phone. Reaching around to the back to awaken the phone and put it to sleep would drive me nuts. The only time you really need to use the button on the back is to turn the phone off and on if you are using the knock-on feature. It works great. When I installed Nova launcher I could knock to awaken the phone by knocking twice, but could not to put it back to sleep by knocking. I had to use the button on the back to put it back to sleep. Not using Nova is not a huge deal to me because this phone does not need Nova as much as others I have used. I primarily used it when the Google search bar could not be removed and took up space on every screen. That is not an issue here. Also, the LG UI is very customizable. Perhaps I missed something in the set-up and it can be made to work, but I thought I would post this possible issue.

Good to hear that it atleast works to wake the phone. Not a big deal since you can have it turn off at different intervals. Thanks for the info

You can still knock on the notification bar with all launchers. I have always used nova, but am using stock, cause Nova lagged on screen transitions. The stock launcer is the fastest of all the launchers ive tried!!

Good to know. I did not try knocking on the notification bar. I have left a space on the home screen where I knock. It did not work with Nova.

You are right on the stock launcher. I do not see a need for Nova. I also had issues when I tried to use it. It would not copy the home screen set-up over from stock, either, saying that it was unsupported.

This is unfortunate news that Nova doesn't run very well on the G2. One of the main reasons I like Nova is the ability to apply an icon theme pack. I've read that the G2 stock launcher allows you to edit and change app icons. On the stock launcher can you download an icon pack such as Stark and apply the entire pack to the phone rather than setting them individually? Thanks

If the icons show up in gallery you can...

I had a thought, the double-tap on the homescreen might get killed by Nova Prime because it supports gestures. The free Nova Launcher app does not support gestures. If you only install the free Nova and not the Prime gesture version does that bring back the ability to turn off the screen with Knockon outside the notification bar?

You could just set the double tap gesture of the launcher to a shortcut that will turn screen off, like a Tasker task. Haven't done it yet, but that's what I'll probably do on mine. I'm using Apex instead of Nova though.

I love Nova but what sold me is the features LG has put in and I love the UI. Having installed Nova Prime on all my previous androids (15) I'm okay if I skip it once. :)

Same here... I actually find no need for Nova with this phone!

Get screen off and on from the play store assign it to double tap in your launcher and you have double tap to sleep functionality back.

Ding Ding, this is what I do with Go Launcher, have been on my old DNA for quite a while now.
