Does anyone recommend the Nova Prime launcher for the Galaxy S 3?
I like the free version but there is no icon notification unless you upgrade.

When you install a third party launcher, does TouchWiz still run in the background?

Thanks for your comments.

Yes I recommend it, it's great. Not much different from Apex though.

Touchwiz always runs but you will not notice it (unless you want to). At any point you can switch back to Touchwiz and leave Nova running in the background. In fact, I ran Touchwiz, Nova, and Apex at the same time for awhile and you'd never know the other two were there when using one.

I suggest you read these other threads though - a lot has already been posted/discussed regarding launchers:

I like it but I would like it better if I didn't have to root it to get the widgets in the app drawer. If you don't root then its like you went back in time to 2.3.

What is the voice command app in the dock of the Nova Launcher? It's very fast and more accurate S Voice. Can it be downloaded for free?

I uninstalled Nova for now thinking that Jellybean will land soon for the S3.

I always used nova on my GS2 but since i got the GS3 I like much more the new touchwiz launcher, it's very customisable and fluid, I think I just don't need nova anymore.

I'm running Nova Launcher Prime now but, also like the Touchwiz launcher more than I thought I would.

I agree, TW is pretty nice this time around. Just like Sense was the primary reason never owned an HTC device, TW has been the reason I never owned a Samsung device so the fact that I had the HOX and GS3 as finalists in my search for the best phone for me speaks volumes about how far both have come with their respected software. I really was impressed with Sense on the HOX when I got hands on with it, same with TW. If both devices were otherwise equal I could have seen myself with either

I've been using Nova Prime since the day I got my Galaxy Nexus. It's a very good launcher for my needs. I would recommend the upgrade if you think any of the features Prime has are worthwhile to you.

I just downloaded Nova Launcher last night after seeing someone who had it. It is awesome, but being somewhat of a noob I have so much customization to do. I heard you can "save" your setup, is this true?

I will most likely be upgrading to prime very soon.

Yes, there is a backup option within Nova.

If you mean saving your Touchwiz settings, don't worry. They will not go anywhere. Nova simply sits on top of Touchwiz and hides it. If you get rid of Nova, Touchwiz is still there just like it was before. You can even switch between Nova and Touchwiz at will - they are totally friendly.
