while I have yet to touch any of the new devices, all I have to say about this is "no surprise there..."

I think im going to go to my VZW store tomorrow and see if I cant get the DL on the impending gnex. I have a friend who works there

Yeah, tried that today. Some people I know at an authorized retailer tried to be helpful, but just didn't know much. Then at an actual VZW, they were cagey as hell. They clearly have an agenda to push the RAZR - they have large parts of their store real estate devoted to that phone. Poor old Rezound was just sitting in a corner.

I've been there and done that. I have also forced myself to get over it in the past few years. When I visited the local Verizon store yesterday to pay my bill, I even looked at the RAZR they had display. Played with it a bit. The phone is okay, but honestly, didn't really excite me that much. At least to me, it isn't all that much different than the Bionic I have right now.

That's how I felt about it. The screen looks better and it's really thin, those were the main differences to me.

On the subject, I'm really hoping VZW releases the G-Nex this month.

And the European version launches on Thursday. From another thread, there were two questions asked about the release date, and only the second was about Verizon.

i was at the taping and i don't remember them talking about the euro version. the question of it being released was for verizon. josh even prefaced the question by saying it would be available is the US on verizon and then asked when we would be able to buy it.

I am not sure how much more clearly the question could have been asked. Sounds like a sweet deal to me.

not really, he pulled out the galaxy (which is his personal phone) and showed some of the photo editing tools like "funny face" and "stretch" but that was pretty much it. he commented on face unlock being opened with a picture but most of the talk was about the roboto font and how he helped change how 4.0 looked from previous versions. he did take some shots at iphone calling their fonts and images "cartoonish".

I did some calling to the indirects in the area this morning and they all seem to be convinced that it's coming out next week, either on Monday or Friday. Only one person said the middle of December, but that person must be a twitter follower of the oh-so informative P3Droid.

he said that the feature was designed for typical and normal situations. for instance, if you lose your phone on the train or in a public place, whoever finds it cannot just pick it up and unlock it. he and josh had some funny jokes back and forth about that but that was pretty much it.

Update: Just heard from one of our regulars, and they have been told that the device has been pushed back. They are expecting the next round of testing to be completed by November 19. Not sure exactly what that means for November 21 release date.

By the end of November is fine with me. I can wait that much longer. I decided not to go with the Razr because the response on here seemed "ehh" about the battery life and screen issues. So i'll wait for Nexus and hopefully grab that.

I called VZW customer care to ask about the Galaxy Nexus this morning. I was told that this morning the release date was postponed - it was to be available for order as of today. No new date was given. The rep had me on hold for a while as she was researching the status so there might actually be some basis for the information.

Ugh... it seems like everyday we have to explain why people on the phone at Verizon aren't in the know about future releases. They don't know anything. End of story.

Exactly, plus today was never even a rumored day for release. Hopefully people don't actually believe everything they hear lol.
