November Security Update (Also Saturation/Nav Bar Fade Update)

So I put the Verizon sim in downloaded the update it said restart to install , then I made the mistake of putting my Cricket SIM in before the restart and it killed the update, so I manually check for the update and it said current September with my Cricket SIM, so once again I put the Verizon sim in did a manual check download it and install the update, then reinstalled a Cricket SIM

A number of people have commented on the color saturation options and the dimming nav bar, but I'm more concerned about their decision to lower the overall max brightness - has anyone noticed a discernible difference on this? I'd hate to have the screen be less viewable in daylight . . (haven't got the update yet)

The reduction was supposed to be 50 nits. Very difficult to notice with even outstanding vision. And this reduction was only to the maximum brightness. Have you been running at 100% brightness? Very few people do. If you're running at anything less than 100% brightness then this change will not affect you at all...

This is crazy, because I never go past 60 lol I mean if it's super bright outside maybe but brightness is a huge battery killer.

Is there anybody here who downloaded the 8.1 beta a week ago, get prompted for the november update?

Nov 2017 Patch & Blue Tooth

Latest patch appears to have fixed my Bluetooth issues. (err my first time posting and I did search to see if this was published and did not find anything.)

Please delete if this post is in error.

They don't push separate security updates to the beta builds. They will update the patch when they release the next build for the beta.

I was thinking if I could just go from beta to the november security patch. This patch seriously can't override the beta? Do I really have to wait it out or can I delete it? I heard if I delete the beta version though, everything will be wiped. ugh.

Yeah if you go back to stock (8.0) it will have to wipe the phone.

Ok, thank you. Makes sense, but then (if I understand you correctly) this really won't "fix" anything except for the person who runs at 100? And you're right, I don't run at 100% normally, but if one is outside in daylight then maybe . . .

Re: November Security Update

Don't trust Mike .. he is crazy I tell ya!

Haha . . Well I don't want to insult Mike but there seem to be quite a few times I read his comments and just nod along in agreement so I'm interested in hearing his take.

I'd like to see for myself but I went to my nearest Verizon store yesterday (2 hours away, so I only go when I have meetings near there), and the stupid place didn't have a V30 or a 2XL, the guy said "Oh, it's right here", the signage said 2XL but it was a regular XL. When I pointed it out he said, "Oh its all the same" and I just kinda gave him a you've-got-to-be-kidding-me look and asked if he heard about the display "issues" and he said "oh ya, that". I asked about the v30 and he showed me a v20 so he didn't know that difference. And when I said "Isn't this a corporate store?" he said "not anymore, went private a few months ago", so I said Oh, that explains it", he said "explains what?" and I said "that you don't have any product", he said "Oh there's no difference between us and a corporate store" . . which is when I left . . sheesh . . .

Yes, I get that. But its literally my only option outside of getting wiped clean. This is idiotic
It actually isn't. Did you read the huge warning posted before accepting the beta terms? They literally told you this. That isn't their fault.

Read the bold below from the beta page.

If you were previously enrolled in the Android N Beta Program, you must enroll again to receive Android O. You may remain in the Android Beta Program beyond the initial O release to preview future Android O maintenance releases (MRs). If you choose to do so, you will automatically get an OTA update to pre-release versions of the MRs as they become available. At the end of the program, you will begin to receive regular public updates.

You may opt-out of the program at any time to return to the stable, public version of Android or Android Wear. Note: If you opt out when your device is running a beta version of Android or Android Wear, all user data on the device will be wiped.
