November Security Update (Also Saturation/Nav Bar Fade Update)

Re: November Security Update

Is there a way to force the update? I remember in the past you could clear data from one of the system apps, but I forget how to do it.

Re: November Security Update

Pixel unlocked from Google - on Verizon - nothing. D/L ota file and can sideload if I get tired of waiting.

I got my device through VZW. They've been really good about being on time with the Pixel. Your region is probably next.

I am not worried - can't get to all phones at the same time. Have had Verizon and Google Pixels - no update issues with either.

Re: November Security Update

For ALL Pixel phones the updates come from Google, not Verizon. You can buy your phone from Verizon and go to another carrier and use their sim card. The updates will continue coming from Google.

Under your logic, the phone wouldn't be supported by Verizon anymore if you take your phone to another carrier. So how would the phone receive updates.
Shouldn't we all be able to update at the same time then ?

That's not accurate... Carriers still have to push the update out to their users.

Re: November Security Update

There are 3 different update packages depending on the version of the Pixel
Google
I think DTAG is a German company
Verizon

Re: November Security Update

When you pop in a sim overseas, the phone still updates the latest patches. You don't need to have Verizon services. There is nothing on this phone specific to Verizon outside of the sim card. The Pixels don't rely upon the carriers to push updates and software to the phones.

With my other Verizon phone. It tells me I have a Verizon update. It highlights that it's from Verizon. The Pixel 2 XL didn't do that at all. I checked it and it mentioned nothing about Verizon unlike my other phone.

I can't speak to overseas, but domestically an update has to be tested first.

No, you are incorrect. Updates come from Google. That's one of the bigger reasons to buy a Pixel...

Window dressing. Verizon wants to appear to be proactive. All Pixel updates are coming from Google. No Verizon testing of any kind.

Don't you find it interesting that the update number Verizon posted is the exact same image number that is posted on Google's web site? Verizon is simply announcing the update. It's not coming through Verizon.

My apologies... I'm having problems with the link... Just Google Verizon Pixel Update and it will take you to the page. Link is broken here.

Google has 2 versions of the update then, 1 for the Google Pixel and one for the VZW version - correct.?
Both are released by Google?
