November Security Update

Just started downloading a few minutes ago , on the Pixel 2 XL

This is the first I got the update(OTA) on the day released in a long time

Mine is downloading now. A bit larger than normal at 89.4 MB. I'm hoping it gives us the Night Sight for the camera.

Maybe everyone got it at the same time, it's just when people's phones checked for the update. If people on several carriers got it on the same day, you can't really say one got it "first". It's out, people are getting it by tapping check for update. It's not really a race, but it's nice to see a variety of people on different carriers all getting it on the same day.

From my experience, it much like the way Microsoft handles update deployment: a combination of which deployment batch your device was randomly assigned and when your device checks.

I typically trigger a manual update check when I see people talking about it, though a couple times my phone has beaten me to it as evident by an already installed update. Two months ago, I didn't get the update until about the third day. Last month the manual check did nothing until about a week after release date. This month the update is arriving the day after (running right now).

October took 3.5 weeks for me to get. coincidentally it came in as I was downloading the OTA to my computer. November I just did it myself this time.

Update after installing November patch last night on a 2XL: everything is much smoother and faster, and I have noticed a slight increase (unscientific) in battery life. In fact, AccuBattery tells me I now have over 82 hours of standby time.

No I haven't yet. I have an HMD Nokia 7 Plus and we are still on 8.1 August security patch. They are now really terrible in supporting this phone. They promised "regular security updates" but have never provided them for the TA-1055 00ww-2-22m build.

Yes in light mode notifications are dark while app drawer and feed are light. Bizarro.

This update changed the look of my home screen just a bit. I use dark theme and the search bar at the bottom used to be a light gray "G". Now it's the colored one and the assistant button was added at the right of the bar. Also some old app icons that used to not be round are now in circle icons. (Stock launcher).

I just noticed that as well, the search bar is different. Also there's another Easter egg, there's a hidden drawing app. I just got the update now, Pixel 2XL on Fi.
