My wife and I both have N7s but I am getting "your device isn't compatible with this version" at the google play store for apps that my wife has installed. We've both updated to 4.2.

I've done a search and this seems to be a problem for rooted devices where the DPI has been altered.....Mine isn't rooted though.

.....any thoughts for a solution appreciated.

you could try to uninstall the app then reinstall - hopefully there is a new version compatible with 4.2
worked for me with MX player when that happened.

I don't have what I want installed.

I've looked a bit deeper into this:-

My wife has BBC media player installed, I don't. My wife installed it before we undated to 4.2. Today I tried to install it and I got the "your device isn't compatible with this version" so I searched on my wife's machine and it also reports "your device isn't compatible with this version" but she has it installed and it works ok.

I've also tried to install TVcatchup but alas "your device isn't compatible with this version"

.....I'm clueless:-\

If you know how, you can sideload the .apk file either from the web or your wifes android. Make sure you read up on how to sideload - plenty of vids, threads to teach you how and it is not hard to do.

to sideload
1) setttings > Security > Unknown Source > ALLOW
2) xfer the .apk file to your N7 /downloads folder
3) execute the apk -- it will ask 'are you sure' and go for it

Since you know it works on your wife's same device, it shd work on yours too.
