Now is the time for a decision

I have absolutely no interest in the SIII as I don't care much for Samsung hardware. Also since I don't root, I'd be stuck with TouchWiz. Yuck! Not happening. :( Anyway, I'm still holding out for a true Thunderbolt successor (refuse to give up my kickstand)! :p No worries about losing grandfathered unlimited data as I purchase at full retail anyway (one of the ways to keep unlimited).

You realize how much extra money you've given...and I do mean given to Verizon? Do you feel like they're really worth that much? Myself personally, once they stolen all of the perks away from me, I'm leaving Verizon so fast their heads will spin.

Erm, Rezound? I mean, it's a direct upgrade in every single way. There's cases with kickstands, if that's what you really want.

I'm with you on this one. When my contract is officially over, I'm eBaying my smartphones and heading over to the gentlemen at Sprint.

I don't see it that way. I see it as a way to maintain more control over my options as I'm not locked into any contract terms. To me that freedom is worth the extra cost.

Cases are out, prefer naked. To me the Rezound is not really a Thunderbolt successor as it's more akin to the Incredible line. A true successor will be based on the EVO line and have a native kickstand.

So you mean an aesthetic successor? I think you're SOL on this one unless you switch to Sprint. Even then, HTC is moving towards a new look with the One line.

Unlimited data will not last forever at Sprint. You can bank on that.

Yeah I actually do all the time. I just usually catch and edit. This won was the politically incorrect term for a mentally impaired person.

Yeah this is actually my first smart phone. I am a little behind the curve. I get 4gigs a month and I don't steam much media so it's fine.

I completely dig what you're saying but my freedom isn't worth a $700 phone. My freedom is worth maybe $400 direct to Google and a straight talk sim card lol.

See as I have said before, I am leery as well but this IS a new radio. It is the S4 with LTE on the chip (SoC) so it is a totally new ballgame and cannot be compared IMHO.

If it's a good radio I will take back everything I have said, but my hopes are not too high.

I just hope it's not a blown up mess like the gnex was. With all the preorders, this phone is probably the most important one sense the og droid to android in general. If this phone flops, the ripples will go far I am afraid and the general opinion of android will suffer

The SGS and SGS II didn't fail and they have a lot worse radios. Admittedly enough they also aren't on Verizon. That being said, The SGS III will be on 5 separate US carriers at once, 2 GSM and 3 CDMA. Honestly unless the phone explodes when touched to human craniums, I can't see it failing.

It won't even fail then. The faithful would still buy it and die happy.

And then their families would have to pay Verizon's ETF. haha. I was thinking about it. I would love it if Google were to offer the SGSIII in Google stores as well. Basically make any phone that you can offer completely unlocked in the Google store for $400 like the Nexii.

I'd be happy just to see a Google approved Nexii build from more than one OEM being made available annually through carriers or GPlay. Competitive designs would be cool to see instead of one and done till next year.

P.S. Not that anyone care but the radios in my refurb have really been abhorrent. They are wacky as hell, shuffling in and out of lte/cdma for some reason. Never seen anything like this nonsense on my first. I may have to abandon my plan to stay stock on GB til the ota. To make matters worse, wifi has turned itself on 3 times by itself and in the battery usage graph. Twice now, I've had an empty slot where an app or process should have been among results. 99 point inspection on refurbs my ***, Verizon.

inspection is kinda crap shoot anyway. The problems that you are having they won't be able to verify in the few minutes that they have the phone.

I'm well aware of this and that's exactly my point. They want to dupe people over on refurbs like they actually do anything in depth on customer returns. Reality is if the hardware is good and it turns on, it ship it back out. I got the wifi issue squared away. Forgot about the auto on setting in dock mode. Custom rom settings are so much nicer to deal with than stock.

Yeah you are probably right. I just don't think that android can come out completely unscathed from a devise as big as this having general problems like apple did with the services issues on the iPhone 4. If there is an issue, just like with the gnex, some will complain, some will say it's perfect, and some will reconsize that it could be better. But this is on a larger scale and any issue will be blown up much larger, and the apple loving bloggers will do their fair share. The general opinion of android would diminish.

I'm sure it will be fine, I just think too much about things

I am going to say that I am still on the fence and you all can call BS on me but I took the step to get my upgrade date moved up. Did not really have to do or say anything....I wonder if my wife will be so eager to say yes....

Rather than rant about why Samsung and/or Motorola suck, I'll tell you what I did. My company pays for the phones and contracts of 15 of its employees, including me. The phone of choice was the Samsung Droid Charge, which was bought without consulting anybody. Five of us, including me, have since gone out and paid our own money to get different phones. Four of us ended up with the Rezound, one with the Nexus. I've never had a good experience with a Samsung phone, and this goes back to 2000 and Sprint PCS. I would use a Blackberry before using a phone made by Samsung.

And don't even get me started about Motorola. I'd rather tie two tin cans to a string than use a Motorola phone.
